The top event for the year for under-23 rowers is the World Rowing Under 23 Championships (WRU23CH). The championships usually takes place in July and attract up to 1000 rowers from around the world. There are 22 boat classes to compete in, including eight lightweight boat classes. In 2023, the WRU23CH returns to Plovdiv in Bulgaria for the first time since 2017.
